Cape Scape Ep 4. Feat: Yndian Mynah

Cape Scape Ep 4. Feat: Yndian Mynah

Cape Scape

We've partnered up with some of South Africa's best DJ's & playlisters and musicians to bring you a collection of sets and playlists called Cape Scape. Curated to teleport you to that feeling of a Cape Town summer, all year round. Turn it up loud and hold on real tight.

Episode 4 This week’s edition is something truly special. We have an entire live set by the hyper talented alternative instrumental band Yndian Mynah. The group is made up of four Cape Town based dudes: Matt, James & Kenan and Jonny aka Scoot 'n Cut. You'll be hard pressed to find a better group of guys and even harder pressed to find a more totally committed set of talented musicians.

This week we are putting the CDJ's down for a sec and focusing on old fashion music, made with actual instruments. Imagine a mash-up of Radiohead and Khruangbin, or as they describe themselves: "Boston without vocals". This sound is truly unique and totally energising.

When I asked Matt a little more about this set, this was his response: " When lockdown eased up, we headed to a small town called Heidelberg to work on new material. We took a massive spontaneous chance and got in contact with Wild Spirit Backpackers Lodge to see if they had any live music planned for the weekend and the rest was history"

I listened to this album on a tuesday afternoon while watching some whales blow out in front of the Seapoint pools. If you can replicate that, i'd highly encourage you to do the same. It's an absolute treat.

You can find more info about the band and their full discography on Spotify.
